NITEC in Computerised Prepress Technology


Course Summary

     This is a full-time programme leading to a National Institute of Technical Education Certificate (NITEC).

     The programme covers a total of eight (8) modules, providing a solid theoretical base (30%) and hands-on experience (70%) as well as employable skills and progression to higher study. Course participants are able to put into practice what has been taught in the classroom and to perform actual tasks involved in producing real print jobs.

     The course will be conducted face-to-face sessions with the trainers. There will be classroom learning, computer lab session and production lab visitation.

    At the end of the one-year full-time course, students will be able to perform the following work:

  • Manage digital files such as copy, backup, converting, archiving, retrieving and transmission of files;
  • Create, edit and assemble digital texts, graphics and images;
  • Scan complex images for colour reproduction and tone separation;
  • Preflight digital files and image trappings;
  • Calibrate and maintain input and output devices;
  • Output files to devices such as imagesetters, digital proofers, laser printers and inkjet printers;
  • Plan complex page impositions; and
  • Develop flats, proofs and printing plates.
